Hot Ginger Tea
While I wish I meant “gossip” about a lovely ginger-haired boy, I quite literally mean tea.
It all started when I grabbed a copy of “Eat Pretty, Live Well” from Urban Outfitters, initially for the purpose of looking cute on my coffee table. I’ve been obsessed with reading it from the moment I opened the pages. Not only is it an easy read, but it serves as a journal and life guide. Within the book lies several lists of beauty foods and a few essential recipes, including the one I cannot survive a morning without and the topic of this post.
My morning, hot, steamy, ginger (and lemon) tea really isn’t tea at all. In fact, this is the recipe:
Chopped ginger
Lemon juice
Hot water for the above to be added to
Honey (optional if you can’t stand the regular taste)
If you’re like me and struggle to wake up in the mornings, forget to exercise on occasion, and often skip breakfast, this is your newest best friend because it will take care of all 3 of those issues AND more.
Some benefits to this drink:
Boosts happiness
Burns fat
Wakes you up
Detoxifies/Purifies
Improves digestion
Fights cancer
Lowers cholesterol
Clears skin
Whitens teeth
Boosts immune function
Makes you feel “full” so you can actually just stick to this for breakfast if necessary
Retains water, while serving as your first of 8 cups of daily water, which will help you drink more water daily (which is important for us all to do) #YayHydration
Calming
Honestly, if these aren’t good enough reasons to try this recipe, take some time to research the benefits on your own. However, I’ve experienced everything in the list above first-hand and am never looking back. Starting out my day with a healthy drink sets the stage for a healthy day, and turning this simple step into habit makes me happier to wake up in the mornings and motivated to continue on my journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle.
Best of luck and I hope you try this out!!
