Meet Me Halfway
If you lower your meat consumption by 50% you would cut your water footprint in half.
We need to care about our ocean. It’s our ocean. We don’t like when people come into our space and destroy it. We usually try to clean the space and get upset. So why do we let people destroy our oceans, why do we let it continue, and why don’t we fix it faster?
Maybe I’m biased, being that I spent most of my life 2 blocks from the ocean. It’s a beautiful thing. It’s a world of its own, with amazing creatures carefully designed by God (if you’re not religious, you can at least appreciate the beauty of the colors, reefs, and life itself). It provides us life. As my professor stated, “if we destroy nature we are silencing the voice of God.”
What if humans were not the dominant species of Earth? What if you were a whale (not figuratively just because you think you snack too much, but an actual whale)? A shark? A starfish? A cow? What if your life purpose was to eventually be on someone’s plate, and you watched your friends get taken away and eaten. Horrifying, right? So why do we let this happen to other animals?
Need a New Year’s resolution? Try being vegan. Can’t do veganism full-time? Maybe leave one day of the week for meat. Try vegetarianism. Try pescatarianism. Try cutting your meat consumption in HALF. But please, reduce your meat consumption.
If not for the animals, do this for:
yourself,
your health,
and the future generations of your family who will not have the opportunity to live in a world with the same modern ecosystems we live with today.
(By the way, humans technically are all lactose intolerant, and consuming more fruits/veggies in your diet is a fantastic thing)
