The Best Playlist Ever

The Best Playlist Ever

Featuring Lorde, Zella Day, Florence and the Machine, LANY, COIN, etc., I have never been more attached to a playlist.

It’s significance to me:

Post-break up in 2019, i focused on compiling a compelling playlist that contained only songs that made me smile or feel good and confident. I wanted girly vibes, energetic vibes. The songs gave me energy, made me want to dance. A very chill, girly vibe helped me return to my true self and be less paranoid

This playlist makes me calm but empowered at the same time. It makes me feel ready to take on the world. School. Jobs. Fashion. Boys. Everything. I listen to it on lazy days and happy days, for pregames and workouts, on planes and on walks.

So when I finally felt like I created the perfect playlist for myself, I decided the name “Zipper” made the most sense. Similar to a zipper, this playlist pulls me back together when I need it most- just like how an actual zipper pulls together a clothing item-starting from the bottom and working it’s way up usually. The sound of a zipper is satisfying and comforting-the metal pieces link together tightly and we are reassured that it will protect whatever lies behind it. The sound of a zipper sounds like a happy squeak sound-like a little “yay,” once everything is pulled together. Zipper is a fun word to say. It just makes sense. It starts with a Z.

Here’s the link to it.

P.S. Shoutout to Nicole Masri (my best friend and OG “zipper” honestly) for introducing me to some of these songs and following the playlist. I love that we have the same taste in music.
