It can be difficult to keep up with this pricier list of trends, but honestly most of these are essentials for a university like Cornell.
You’ll notice there’s some overlap between what people wear to class and what people wear to go out. This is either because some people never made it back to their dorm that night (haha), or because fashion never ends for them. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and say the latter; there are MANY Cornell students who actually care to look great 24/7.
Not gonna lie, it can be a bit difficult adjusting to the fashion trends of the pretentious student body of a northeast university. Coming from Florida, I had so much in store for me. I went from having 0 winter clothing to having majority of my closet stuffed with parkas, fluffy sweaters, scarves, and boots.
*disclaimer: you do NOT, by any means, have to run out and buy everything in this list immediately if you plan on attending Cornell. While these are very common clothing trends, people embrace unique style and diversity. You should always be yourself and never succumb to peer pressure. I do not have everything in the lists above, and I doubt every Cornell student does.
This isn’t exactly related to trends, but there is an important thing I’d like to tell everyone who is planning on attending Cornell.
DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT wear valuable or memorable clothing items when going out to a party. God forbid you bring your high school lacrosse hoodie to a frat house and get hot after dancing for 20 minutes and decide to set it down while you grab a drink (of water)...it WILL BE STOLEN. I have gotten a lacrosse hoodie, $400 parka, black anorak, etc. stolen and have learned my lesson. Save your money and tears, and either freeze yourself by not bringing a jacket out or bring a light FRACKET (a jacket you wouldn’t mind losing at a frat house) to tie around your waist.
Please enjoy a few photos of me actually going out!
Happy shopping!
